Would have been nice of AC to provide, for sure, but certainly not required for AC to do so (only way AC would be required to do this is if a flight subject to EU comp, so would have to be a flight departing an EU destination).

Did your daughter ask about that? My guess is they probably would have done that if it was requested (and space available - these days, that can often be an issue though).

AC was the cause of the delay, so theoretically, everything should go through them. My guess is they'll throw out a % off code for next AC trip - though may not be helpful so much if she fly's UA mostly.

You can try through 1K, they might give you something. But AC would really be the primary since it was their issue. I would expect something from them, so legally, they offered what is required - they rebooked to the destination.
