I have never found the green car to be necessary but at those times, the peace of mind might be worth the extra. Green car tends to fill up less often than the regular cars. I might chance it and save the money but a first-timer might feel better with it.
Thanks for the input, yeah the extra amount just comes out as USD 86.50 so not really that bad considering.

I'm using Haneda as my entry and exit points (forgot to mention that) and am staying at the InterContinental ANA Tokyo if that factors into which one I should get.
