I was very impressed with the new premium check in area at AKL airport a few months ago. Took me 10 min to get checked in, pay departure tax and go through immigration and security. I fly Australia-USA quite often and (as I am a big fan of NZ) always go via AKL. In my experience Business Class on NZ is much better than UA.
