Not sure why you think travel packages are US-focused. SPG & Marriott elites from all over the world are able to redeem them for stays worldwide & for international as well as domestic airlines. The hotel side of the package is for Cat 1-9 & Tier 1-5. There is no geographic limit.

Aeromexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Copa Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, GOL/Varig, Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, Iberia Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Aeroflot, airberlin, Air China, Air France/KLM, Alitalia, ANA, Asia Miles, Asiana Airlines, Avianca-TACA LifeMiles, China Eastern, China Southern, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Japan Airlines, Jet Airways, Korean Air SKYPASS, LAN, Lufthansa Miles & More, Multiplus, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Saudia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways Voyager, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines

We have European-based Marriott elites who have redeemed for travel packages, as well as Asia-based Marriott elites. Also, right after the merger a # of SPG elites were stampeding like elephants to transfer their points into Marriott & redeem them for travel packages because they thought they were a good value. If you don't feel a travel package works for you specifically that's fine. Others, whether US-based or rest of world-based, do. It's a to each their own.

The credit card issue has more to do w/ credit card companies & banks than it has to do w/ Marriott (and that's true of multiple hotel chains & credit cards).

Getting back to the actual thread topic., it sounds like there are some decent Hua Hin options for SPG & Marriott elites.

Cheers.
