Even to the west coast US I can regularly get fares on BA/AA for around the £1100 mark in CW ex-DUB. So spending 300k Avios for 2 or 600k Avios for 4 pax makes no sense when the taxes on those tickets would be £1200/£2400.

Going east the fares are even cheaper. QR were selling HND for £600 in J ex-AMS earlier this week.
