I fly DL mostly out of habit as they were my primary airline for over 20 years. The planes are familiar as are many of the GA's and FA's and I do like being able to upgrade if and when I can find mainline metal flying to my destination.
But DL broke my spirit over the last couple years and I now find myself flying other airlines on a regular basis. That would never have entered my mind until the RJ explosion along with the cutbacks to the Medallion program.

I will fly Delta if I absolutely have to but, after 27 years of being a loyal Delta customer, I was told that I was no longer as valuable a customer. There were ways to reward high rollers without insulting and alienating other loyal customers. Delta chose not only not to do this but actually to be offensive and nonresponsive.
A lot has been written about the animosity that has been displayed here toward DL. It's a fair observation but, in reality, the reason is that we felt very passionately about our airline, how we were snubbed, and how DL upper management was fiddling while Rome was burning and the employees we got to know and trust were being treated poorly as well. We didn't really move away from DL as much as DL moved away from us.
