and renting a car with the return back to Sydney airport is a nice price, but what kills it is the parking fee in Sydney (unless anyone has any ideas for affordable parking near darling harbour. I see plenty of overnight but they all got exotic by 6am which is just insane. I'm still sleeping then ).

I'm not afraid of driving in Australia I've driven before up to the blue Mountains, Melbourne to the 12 apostles, etc. So it's not an issue.
