In my only experience of doing this, the Gold line quoted me a crazily expensive cost. HUACA gave the same outcome.

Someone here suggested it may be a POS issue so I called the AMS sales office (it was an ex-AMS ticket) and they changed it for just €300.

Might be something to bear in mind, if your friend gets a high quote.
