Venice.

For our first night, we were checked in and we headed out for dinner since we didn’t get much to eat on the flights and thanks to the tight connection at Frankfurt. We went out to a place that I’d found in the Lonely Planet book “Anonimo Veneziano” at Calle de Fruttariol 1847.

We walked in and the first impressions were a little disappointing. There was a large flat screen TV hanging near the bar and just after we arrived, a large senior citizen tour group of about twenty plus persons started wandering in. Thankfully, once we got past that, we had the best meal of the trip to date.

I had Sole with Lemon and Butter with grilled vegetables. The sole was filleted and prepared right in front of me when it arrived and tasted absolutely great.

MrsWT73 had taglitelle con porcini and truffle oil.

All in all a pretty solid meal for a random place out of one of the worlds most used guidebooks. I would sum up the experience as highly recommended if you are in the area a need a quick, but not super fancy meal.

After that, it was time to relive MrsWT73’s youth. We walked up to Briccolo; a wine bar and chicetti by the Rialto Bridge. It's situated in one of Venice's squares that was all but dark at this hour.

It was full of locals getting it on and we had a few glasses of wine. Why not – no one’s driving (or gondoliering)

We stumbled home over the Rialto Bridge through the sign posted alleys back towards San Marco's square and back to the Westin.
