Introduction This is my first review and decided to write it about an Ibis Styles property, since I have the feeling that Ibis (Red/Styles/Budget) reviews are a bit underrepresented in this forum. For my winter holiday trip, I was looking for an Accor property in Stockholm. With Accor not being that much present in Sweden, Ibis Stockholm Järva was the most luxurious property on offer. I am getting error messages when adding photos to this review, so I will try to add these on a later moment. Booking I booked this property during the autumn private sale, but the private sale rate was not available on the website. When I contacted the Accor Customer Service, they told me that this hotel had sold out at the requested rate. However, when I contacted the property directly via e-mail and they were more than happy to take a reservation at my dates (3 nights: 29 december - 1 january) for 1710 SEK (some 170 euro). This was an incredibly good deal, provided that it included a stay during New Year's Eve. The reservations lady was very helpful. Location The location is very good, despite being not on walking distance from the city center. It was easy to locate with a big Ibis Styles logo on the roof. There is a train station nearby on a 10 minutes walk with frequent commuter services running every 10 to 15 minutes. From there, it would take less than 10 minutes to get to the central station of Stockholm, so total travel time is less than 30 minutes to the center. The station is on the same line to the airport, so you could get there as well without any transfers. I did miss a back entrance in the building, which would reduce the walking time by some 5 minutes, as the building is fairly big and hosts multiple operations. Interior The interior of the building looked fairly modern and new, but if you looked more closely, you can see that the building was actually a bit older (parts of damaged paint, etc.). I like the design where there's a very high ceiling in the middle, and then rooms on the sides. However, they also put a few rooms in the middle. From my own experience, I would be pissed off if I was rented a room without access to fresh air. Some of the middle rooms didn't even have windows - I hope they don't rent these under the disguise of a 4-star hotel. Check In We were given a not so warm welcome, as the front desk agent was just plain rude to us. She only replied with an annoyed "Yes?!" on arrival and did not even take the effort to remove her earphones. Also no information was provided about the property or about Stockholm. When I inquired about a welcome drink (I am a platinum member), she appeared even more annoyed than before, and offered me a small 25cl bottle of soda, which she immediately opened. So I had to walk with all my luggage and an open bottle to the room. Room We were automatically upgraded to the family suite, which was very spatious and could easily host a family of 4. The decoration was okay, but a bit empty and with sprinkler pipes below the ceiling. The temperature was hard to control in the room and we did it the old-fashioned way by opening and closing the windows when needed. The bed was big and featured a lot of pillows. We would have appreciated one big blanket, instead of two small blankets. There was also a water kettle in the room, but no tea or coffee came with it. Fortunately we carried our own tea. There were 3 TV's in the suite, but I'd rather have had that they had put a minibar in the room instead. There was also a small safe. Bathroom The bathroom had a big walk-in shower, but unfortunately it featured just a small shower head, instead of a large rain shower. Also a second sink would have been nice, because it could easily fit in the bathroom, (and because we had transformed the sink it to a minibar). It appeared to me that the suite probably used to be a dorm with a community shower, as there was another drain hidden under the bath. Breakfast The breakfast was good and contained everything that's typical for a continental breakfast. They also included a few local specialties, including the famous Swedish meatballs. Never ever have I eaten so many meatballs in 3 days

. There was also a fancy tap where one could tap different kinds of juices or water from it. My Internet addiction dictates me to mention that the WiFi reception was poor in the breakfast area. Now I suddenly had to communicate with my partner instead during the morning... we are both not morning people. Amenities As all Ibis hotels, the shampoos were those bulk containers that are fixed to the wall. We did get a plate with fruits in the room on arrival. Also did we get free parking, which normally would cost 100 SEK (some 10 euro) per day. I truly appreciate that. There is a coffee corner in the lobby where one can get free coffee and tea. It did have a sign that said that the amenities from the coffee corner were intended for conference guests, but nobody, including the staff, seemed to be bothered by it. Bar There is a bar in the lobby, but it was closed for the whole duration of our stay. Spa There should be a small spa area where one could get massages, but we couldn't find it. We were not really bothered to ask, because we had no real interest in it anyway. Cinema The property features a private cinema. Unfortunately it was not being operated. It would have been nice if they played a selection of films throughout the day for the guests to just walk in and sit. Overall All in all this property was definitely better than the average Ibis property, but a bit more attention to the details would make it a true 4 star property. For the price that I paid, however, I am more than happy to have booked this hotel, as it is good value for money.Let them just work on the front desk staff, as I have never encountered such rude front desk agents.
