I think I phrased my comment wrong. I got the alert when I was printing my tickets in DUB this morning for all legs. DUB - JFK was not overbooked. The machine indicated that only the JFK- ATL flight was the full one. We just arrived. There are long lines and aggravated people on standby from the comments we are overhearing. The app also shows many more people on standby than seats available.

Thanks for letting me know that they may completely ignore the machine anyway. We are sitting near the desk and will keep an ear out. There is another flight to ATL in less than 2 hours, so it would work out great if we got the offer.

DH just spoke to the GA. They said that they either need 2 or 5 volunteers and asked if we would split up if needed. They offered $600/pp which is funny since we were willing to accept $400. They also said not to worry about what you put on the machine initially. They will just "negotiate" with you in person (higher and lower) based on whatever they've been authorized. He said he'll let us know in 10 minutes and that we are first choice. Yay!
