Namibia is a tourist destination as well, e.g. Sossusvlei. QR already has started a service to WDH, so EK should follow.
And TNR can open up Madagascar as a tourist destination.
Now tickets from EU to TNR cost slightly above $1000, the same as to AKL. And gross duration is about the same as well, despite the distance is only half. Long layovers are there now. So flying EK via DXB will shorten the layover and lower the price.
