Well to be honest the "tips" are pretty straight forward - either book 355 days out (and then add the return over the phone) or be very flexible and check your desired destination (or a nearby airport served by BA) on a daily basis, first thing in the morning.

I've redeemed to South America, West Coast, New York, the Carribean (leaving next Monday!) and Singapore using a mixture of the above using a 2-4-1. I think it's a great deal.
