These sorts of comparisons are highly individualized and simply represent one individual's views. No different than a thread positing that chocolate ice cream tastes better than vanilla or chicken better than beef.
If time has no value, you have friends on whom you can impose at your EU departure point, you have found a US / Asia location with a low fare and so on, you might do better. On the other hand, if you could put your time to better use, don't fancy the cost of a nice hotel at least on the outbound and want flexibility, the answer is simple.
