hoping some FT experts on SVO transit visa rules might be able to help me here. I have a U.S. passport and will be flying ATH-SVO-LAX on SU metal, with an 8 hour layover at SVO.

I do not plan to leave the airport, only wish to make my connection. Not knowing this airport, or which terminals I will be arriving and departing from, I am concerned about whether I would need to go through customs in an area deemed outside of the "transit" zone. And thus, would a visa be required?

Most everything I've researched says a transit visa is not needed if you are not leaving SVO and are only there for 24 hours or less. But I havent seen the question addressed specific to the customs area and if it would take me outside of the transit/ allowable zone, and in turn cause me a problem without a visa.

Any feedback is genuinely appreciated!
