I'm looking at the following flights on two separate tickets:
DOH-CGK QR0958
arr 07:40 at Terminal 2
CGK-LBJ GA0452
dep 10:35 from Terminal 3
Total transfer time just under 3 hours @ 175 minutes
2 pax British Citizens in J (in terms of visa requirements/queuing/deplaning).
Very rough research shows the flight is quite reliable, biggest delay in the last 20 days is 25 minutes, 75% on-time, 90% within 30 minutes, 95% within 45 minutes.
Working back from the onward departure time, I have approximated the following:
07:40 Scheduled arrival (45 mins padding)
08:25 Immigration, bag collect and customs (45 mins)
09:10 Queue for taxi (15 mins)
09:25 Taxi T2 to T3 (10 mins)
09:35 Arrive T3, queue for check-in / padding (15 mins)
09:50 Domestic check-in closes
10:35 Departure
That includes 30 minutes of lee-way for check-in and waiting for a taxi, 45 minutes for immigration etc, and 45 minute contingency for flight delay, potentially 90 minutes padding total.
Without any further information this seems largely do-able (if there's a serious flight delay I will rebook/incur insurance etc), but I wanted to check here for your practical knowledge/expertise.
- I've heard of queues to obtain a visa - as I understand it British Citizens do not need a visa for a stay of up to 30 days, so I won't need to queue for this?
- Is there likely to be substantial queues (exceeding 20/30 mins) for immigration? J pax (earlier off the plan) arriving ~8am Monday morning
- Is customs clearance more stringent/lengthy than average across the world?
- Are taxi queues likely to be ridiculous (plus 15 mins)?
- Are the inter-terminal transfers reliable/frequent enough to rely on them?
- Any other advice you can give?
