No, I don't think BA would go as far as this. Long haul is a very different proposition and experience to short haul for the reasons I have mentioned.
It's not so much a question of BA will do, rather where the market is going. I foresee that the market will move to economy being a basic seat-only proposition with all other extras being available as ancilliaries for an additional fee.
Duty of care will be limited to what is required by regulations.
