That would seriously weaken CX's ability to serve the US West Coast; you'd be forcing SEA/PDX traffic through YVR and wouldn't be able to use SFO, no flights to ANC or Alaska, a lot of the Pacific Northwest falls off of your map.

AC at YVR is a great option for serving Canada but a lousy option for serving the US West Coast regionally, and that's not one of AA's strengths, either (which is why AS partners with AA).
