My friend offered to exchange some money with them so they could buy something to eat. They offered her like for like. She happily handed over $100 Aussie dollars and took their $100 US dollars. I said you should of offered to change ALL of their dollars. The dollar was definitely not at parity at that time. She did well from that exchange.
I hold onto my Australian currency from one trip to the next. (Last was August 2016; next will be this coming May.) I've tried using it a couple of times at the Outback Steakhouse chain. Despite the place's name, I haven't had any more luck with A$ there than these folks would have had with their greenbacks.
