I'm willing to bet the 787 was priced competitively, but their order book is so full that I doubt DL could have received the first one until late 2018 early 2019. I believe DL is set to get the first 350 fall of this year, beating Boeing to the punch by over a year. I recall that Boeing even offered some 777's cheap as a bridge until the 787's could be build for DL.
It was both.
The 744 replacement was very much availability. IMO had Boeing had the slots the 789 wins this order.
The 767 order was price. Boeing wasn't willing to discount the 787 down to A330NEO prices.
