I whole-heartedly agree.
Had a near-miss yesterday - AE suddenly showed an itin for April (booked last June that I've been checking monthly) with a duplication of one leg and a missing J segment on OZ ICN-LAX. Further investigation showed the ticket numbers had changed on AC and AE, indicating some sort of reticketing shenanigans (no email sent to me), but OZ website still showed old ticket #s when I tried pulling up the booking. Have since called all 5 airlines involved in this ticket to confirm, and got AE to reissue my itinerary, but if not for FT a) I would not know to do any of this b) I would be more likely to just follow what AE tells me my "options" are when something goes belly-up.
