I think you will find that it is needs to be a separate booking (especially if the exact booking class you have is no longer available). You can however ask BA to do a TCP (to complete party) which means that they know that you are travelling together. This is especially helpful if (and it is a big IF) there are operational upgrades to business for two people... you could both get lucky!
