Hi, I'm looking for a little advice. [...] Is it just me, or is expecting me to double-check that my bags have been checked all the way through just a little bit unreasonable? I was told by the check-in agent that they had been checked through and I left it at that.</font>
As with any airline, no matter who tells you what, the proof is on the bag and in your hand. If you can't be bothered to glance and see if the bag tags and receipts match your final destination then you're asking for trouble. Do you fail to look at receipts after making deposits at banks as well?

Since you say you're looking for a little advice, the best advice would be to learn from the experience and from now on spend the 5 seconds it takes to look at the tags. Check the tags at the same time you verify you've been given all the correct boarding passes before you walk away from the counter.
