Seating policy question - family with young kids
Hi all,
Was recently on BA2063 (LGW-MLE) and came across an interesting situation. Wanted to post this on the forum to see what others think.
There was a family of 6 seated in Economy on a 777-200, so we're talking 3,3,3 seating.
Dad was in 16H (with his noise-cancelling headphones on). Mum was somewhere in the other economy section with one child. They then had three children aged somewhere between 5 and 10 seated as follows:
21E, 21H, 21J
So, they're seated by themselves with the nearest parent 5 rows ahead, with open seats (as in, no other passengers) between the kids.
Kids were, as you might imagine, somewhat unruly, kicking the seats of the passengers in front but the most worrying behaviour was on landing. As soon as the plane had touched down, the youngest child undid the seat belt and started to get up and move towards Dad in row 16! The child didn't know better - not their fault.
Various passengers complained to the cabin staff about the situation but they seemed unable or unwilling to try to do something about it.
Just wondered what the seating policy is when travelling with young children. I was very surprised that the kids were sitting with no adult in close proximity, especially when seats were open.
Thoughts?
