I routinely use my drink chits to buy comp beer/wine for my stranger seatmate[s] for the past 10 years, often in front of FAs. I have done this for retired couples, hapless corporate drones, newly married couples, etc. It invariably makes me happy to see their delight.

I also often guest in stranger / seatmate into UC on my intl transits through ORD-SFO-LAX-NRT for many years, especially poor student traveling on budget to make his/her day.
