How long is the 7-night marriott cert good for? I'd like to request the package now to get the CP, but wouldn't be planning to use the cert until March of '18. Will that be a problem?

From what I researched it sounds like the cert is good for a year and then people call Marriott and can extend it for a year 1 time. It sounded like people were waiting until close to expiration to have it extended the 1 year to give them more flexibility in using it.
