Agreed. I'm a huge TB fan with an Ego as my daily carry. I have the WF and a TriStar and agree that the WF is the more useful bag of the two.
My only complaint (if you can call it that) i that fitting shoes in the front compartment is a bit iffy - depending on size - and sometimes makes the bag bulge a bit if the back compartment is full.
I doubt that you'd be happy with the Pilot. I've used a packing cube in my Ego for two shirts, two pants and underwear and it fit everywhere. The WF is the same and I've used a packing cube in the back with all the same, a packing cube with even more clothes in the front and a ThinkPad 230X between the two for cushioning. A small packing tube with toiletries goes in the curved pocket up front. Chargers and the like go next to the laptop and a book goes into one of the front zipper compartments along with my noise canceling earbuds. The other compartment is left empty for the stuff in my pockets when I go through security.
