get either an etrade or a schwabs atm card. throw some money into the account. etrade(which i have), charges 1% for the currency exchange (at some bank rate) i think schwab may be less>>>>>less than 1%. i have made changes in about 10-20 countries. just be careful when you are in the atm machine, and have your spouce all over you so you do not get a bump and snach. (i have never had one). the biggest pain in the ... is some banks do not allow more than a couple hundred dollars worth of currency withdrawn.

etrade allows over a thousand a day or some such. if you are BIG spenders, get his and hers cards, and set up two accounts for each. that'll get you at least 8 grand.

i have never had any problems getting money out of an atm, and my wife has never had a problem spending atm money.
