Now that they have had some time without the benefit being available, I wonder if Club Carlson and US Bank have run any numbers to see how this change has impacted:
1. the number of cardholders overall,
2. the quantity of (and spend on) Club Carlson stays from cardholders, and
3. the overall spend on the credit card from the remaining cardholders
I know I am just one data point, but... Although I DID keep the card (I still think the 40k bonus points make up for the $75 annual fee), I now spend zero on the card, and I also haven't had a single paid Club Carlson stay since the change. Previously this was my "go-to" credit card for all non-bonused spend, and I had paid stays at quite a few Club Carlson locations (admittedly mostly low-$$ airport locations) to help accumulate points for high-value redemptions.
I would assume that the change was determined to be a net positive for them, but I sure would like to know the actual results after-the-fact...
