They're certainly under no obligation to make any accommodations. Some may choose to, as a customer service gesture....
I would agree... "fault" may not be the best term and might be "loaded".
At the same time, asking the airline to forfeit income due what happened to someone does not make sense. I guess some folks think airlines are like the government - they just print money. (LOL)
