We called Delta who said they were going to cancel the 2nd portion of our trip from Atlanta to Savannah.
Delta advised calling our credit card for a refund as the friendly lady i spoke to suggested Delta wanted us to fly into Atlanta anyway (where we had no place to stay and weren't actually going on our business holiday) and we did not want to go there. We also didn't want a Credit from Delta as it was ridiculous that they were cancelling half the trip. There was a hurricane watch issued by the "National Weather Service as Dangerous and Life -Threatening Wind is Possible." Our associates received a refund, our credit card company said they were going to issue a refund but then felt it was Delta's responsibility. After months of many phone calls, emails, filling out forms, we are very frustrated with our inability to get a refund from Delta or BMO World Elite MasterCard.
I fly with many many airlines and was trying out Delta's business service both ways for the very first time. NEVER AGAIN. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Frustrated business traveller!
Not trying to start a fight, but there is something REALLY fishy about your story. I fly 200k+ miles a year and applaud delta for their performance and transparency.
in-fact they make a point to publish waivers due to weather. Specifically, here is their travel exception policy for your trip:

it it clearly states savannah was an affected destination and they will rebook or refund without penalty. What other people in the thread mention is my suspicion for your issue:
If you had two tickets booked one to ATL and one to SAV - then only the SAV portion would be eligible for rebook/refund.
assuming you have provided correct information, just call Delta corporate and give them your PNR and advise them of the stated travel exception policy and they will refund. I've never had an issue with this - ever in the 15 years of flying with them.
