and before everyone forgets, a seat is assigned on a non-exclusive basis, and ALWAYS subject to re-assignment on an operational basis.

So. I would offer let FA/SD deal with such requests (unless ordered to vacate your seat which you are compelled by law to follow cabin crew direction), then also your prerogative to decide whether to accept/deny a fellow traveller's request.

good luck when SNL "Drunk Uncle" grabs the nearby seat, as opposed to some child, many of whom are perfectly well behaved.
