Questions with booking mixed Virgin F and AS flight...
Looking at booking another fall trip to LA (around Halloween) and notice some good deals on Virgin America first class flights from SEA to LAX.
My issue/question is this. I'm based in PSC and fly PSC - SEA - LAX and back. If I just enter PSC to LAX for the route my options come back with Virgin America flights mixed into it BUT don't show me F options (probably because the PSC to SEA leg is a Q400 only). If I do multi city then it will show up and let me pick lowest coach price for PSC to SEA and then the Virgin F from SEA to LAX (only $200, not bad!). I figure if I book it this way then I shouldn't have any trouble with my bags, right? I shouldn't have to pay for a checked bag at PSC since the ticket includes an F fare in it on the same day, yes? Or am I going to be nailed for a bag in PSC? What about using an F security lane if available at PSC? Would I get to board the Q400 first? Do they even call boarding parties and include F or just status guys?
Would I get Alaska lounge access in Seattle? My SEA to LAX flight would be F, but it would be on Virgin. Alaska either hasn't updated their lounge terms (still shows only paid/reward F travel on ALASAK gets access) or are shorting the Virgin guys...
Anyone know what Virgin's rules are on lounge access at LAX? They mention it's free if a paid book F ticket on a long haul but don't specify what that is. I could see them not including it if you're doing LAX to LAS or something but what about SEA? 2.5 hours isn't transcon but seems longer then just a short little shuttle....
Any comparison between Alaska Lounge at LAX and Virgin's The Club? I know Alaska stuff is free once in the lounge where The Club seems to charge, be prices are pretty decent and it sounds like I could get real food in the Club vs some salad and cheese over at Alaska....
Also, I'm guessing the miles count as Alaska miles for status? It books Virgin into P class which isn't even listed on the partner earn chart for Virgin America but P class IS shown on the Alaska earning chart. So I assume it builds status as if it's Alaska metal and not a partner earn (which makes sense since the buy out went through).
