BKK must have massive overcapacity currently, you can book on a huge number of airlines LHR-BKK at the moment for a price in the £1,250-1,750 range, including SQ on certain dates (which I've never seen before).
If you're actually looking to go to BKK on OW and based in London then AY is available for £1,300 too.
The miliary coup and then the King's death have not been kind on Thai tourism. Leisure bookings are way down on last year which was significantly down on the year before. I presume business has also been affected as well, though I didn't think the economy or inward investment had taken such a hit.
I seem to find a new fare every day, but my current thought is CDG-AMM-BKK-AMM-CDG on mainly RJ with a touch of MH for what I think is 560 tier points.
