FWIW, my recommended walking route is in this post: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/24526842-post11.html. ISTR that this suggestion has been endorsed by other JNB regulars.

Personally, we don't bother with the Comair re-check desks beyond customs but just walk the bags straight over to domestic check-in.
