Of course the answer is no. The airline is selling a product, just like any other business. They may care, but why should they reach into their pocket and give someone money?
Of course it's not their fault, why use a loaded term?

They're certainly under no obligation to make any accommodations. Some may choose to, as a customer service gesture. Even in the case of some of the other businesses you mentioned, e.g. restaurants may comp an appetizer or come up with a free cake on your birthday, etc.
