We did some research using facebook ads. First of all we tried to do some ad using photos of our luggage comparing with a photo of luggage with a rimowa-style look. The CTR(click-through rate is a bit higher) so we assume our look is attractive. Secondly is the website with a signup link on it, we had quite a few sign-ups, and we would assume that some people are interested in that. Besides that, we attend some local hangouts with travellers, and listen to their opinions with the early stage prototype.
Whether those sign-ups would convert/purchase is a “Schrödinger's Cat”, we are new to the luggage industry, so all the criticisms here we all think them valuable.
Honestly, this all sounds like wishful thinking. Get out there, spend money and do real research before you waste your money tooling up for these, producing thousands and then having a warehouse that you can't move except at a steep loss. I'm not trying to be harsh, but you are running on a wing and a prayer at the moment and it's not going to work.
