I had a very difference experience, fully acknowledging that guest experiences can differ on a day-to-day and stay-to-stay experience. I stayed here on the 2nd January as had a great stay! My first stay at the property, a stay involving two guests.

The restaurant was open until 9pm, and the bar was open until 11pm. We didn't use the restaurant but saw others using it, but did have some nibbles in the bar. The front desk also mentioned an overnight room service menu too.

I thought that the website did at one point mention that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment because we knew about it. However, we can't find this any more on the website or in the app - perhaps it simply wasn't there! Maybe we read about it on FlyerTalk or on TripAdvisor. I definitely knew it in advance though, but I definitely think it needs to be signposted more/at all in the app, on the website, and on any booking email. The refurbishment didn't affect us whatsoever as we noticed no sign of it on our floor (Floor 2) nor in the lobby. Maybe we arrived on a different day when construction was left apparent/cleared away. I agree entirely with the OP that this needs better/some signposting. I've stayed in a Hampton Inn hotel I could only described as a construction site earlier this year, with the refurbishment construction not being signposted at all. It was a terrible experience!

- We received an upgrade from a standard Queen room to a King Deluxe room, a really nice big room (which was presumably one of the refurbished rooms). The room was perfect size for us given we had four large bags with us that we needed to rearrange the contents of before our flight the next morning.
- Though the Deluxe room had slippers, we had to call up for two robes which were delivered promptly and in the transparent bags that they must receive them from the cleaning company.
- We got a ‘drinks on us’ voucher for 2 free drinks from the bar. We ordered pinot grigio and a baileys.
- The breakfast was acceptable, if a little dry. It was much better than the offering at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate in the lounge though, and the Hilton London Bridge in their lounge (though Jamie's was good).
- We were handed 3 cookies on arrival, despite only 2 people staying Usually, I have to ask for the third (extra) cookie and I look like a piggy.

It was around a £15 Uber from Heathrow to the hotel, around 9pm, and about £20 on the way back around 830am (the traffic wasn’t too bad, but we witnessed a crash on Bath Rd so we stopped to check on the victim, awaited the ambulance and then were diverted onto the M4/25 rather than just down Bath Road).

I usually stay at the HGI London Heathrow or the Ibis London Heathrow (especially using the £25 'Happy Monday's promotion which you can get on a family room!). They're easy enough to get to and I usually only stay for a few hours between late night inbound flight arrival and early outbound flight out the next morning so find it hard to justify spending more. My experience at the Doubletree, especially with the free drinks vouchers and the nice upgrade, and the exceptionally friendly staff means I'll probably book again on my next visit. I wrote the the hotel manager to let him know that some of his staff was exceptionally polite and offered great customer service.
