I need to be at work in MUC the day of arrival at 9am, so absolutely have to get that MUC flight. Previously when fog was delaying everything I used to monitor the inbound flights DEL-CCU and once showed up earlier to be put on the earlier delayed rotation (AI701).

What do that wise (wo)men of the IbA forum suggest? Go with this option or rebook via BOM?

Problem there is that its the only flight AI has in the evening, operated by an A319 that comes in from BOM in the morning and that does a two domestic rotations before going back to its BOM base for the night. So time is not really of the essence there and the punctuality is accordingly bad as it accumulates delays. (departs about 30-40 late, arrives 20-30 mins late) OTOH the BOM option has a 5hr transit window.... really torn here.
