What about third party VOIP services running over LTE?
In China, Google Voice works with Project Fi and sound quality is superb with phone that supports TDD-LTE 38/39/40/41 bands. It works decently well with FDD-LTE band 3 as well. The data band during is call is usally 10-20KB/s, so T-Mobile is probably hit or miss with 16KB/s speed limit. One cannot connect to Google services with China IP, so it doesn't make sense to test Google voice with China local SIM/wifi. Voice calls within chat apps (such as wechat) works perfectly in China. It is even able to make VOIP call to regular phone line from wechat nowadays.
UAE, on the other hand, seems be able to block all VOIP ports. I tried to use Google Voice with local SIM and local wifi. Neither of them works. Not sure about Project Fi SIM though. UAE even blocks WIFI voice calls within chat apps such as whatsapp.
I have no clue about India yet.
