Good news for you if you're travelling through SIN T4 when it opens - they're getting rid of that silliness for general security.
Personally I find individual gate security more efficient but it really makes me doubt if the rest of the airside is actually safe at times.



How does the QF and BA Singapore lounges compare to the CX lounges for you? I haven't had the chance to try the HKG ones (either bad timing, low-cost-is-much-cheaper, else we're on the wrong alliance).
