Another thought...

Unless you are purchasing a full F fare B tickets in coach have the same MQM earning. If you have certs to burn because they are expiring might be a bit cheaper and still give you the same earnings.

As noted, you should be able to apply certs on separate PNRs. I travel for work and my wife sometimes comes along. I have to book my work tickets thru our travel desk so we can't be on the same PNR.

I have never had issues as long as we both were using certs. I have heard of people buying F and getting the desk to use a cert for their companion but I have never tried this. I think that would be more difficult to pull off.
