AFAIK, there is no change to protocol for CX crew and cabin temperature defaults. 22-23 C (71.5-73 F), which isn't bad at all...and you can always get it lower if you want. Of course, sometimes (maybe 1/8 flights?) it is at an obscene temperature, sometimes by accident and sometimes because of folks complaining it's too cold.
As long as I've been looking at blogs and FT, I see a misnomer that CX keeps cabin temperature too warm. In those cases, I conclude those folks are infrequent CX fliers who have but two or three anecdotes generally have no idea what they're talking about. Or just people repeat something and amplify it without having a clue. I am a "cold" preference sleeper, do about 20x CX long-hauls a year and almost never have a problem sleeping due to temperature.
However, with sscywong's comment above about KA, and this thread coming from sxc, I hope nothing has changed. Maybe (hopefully) sxc you just had some bad luck.
I will say, in the instances I ask them to turn it down I specifically ask the temperature my zone is set to. Even if another pax has asked the heat be turned up, 24 C is not "standard" (aka too hot) on CX and they really have no choice but to reduce it. Once I discovered the cabin at something like 26 C (79 F), which is outrageously warm. Of course the SP or ISM (can't remember which) immediately apologized profusely and dropped it to 22, and came by to check multiple times to see if it was okay. So my advice is, if you're too warm, ask for a specific temperature or check what the temperature is. Sometimes, I think it's "warm" and it turns out the cabin is set to 21 or 22 C, which isn't hot by any standards. I find long rides in the plane and inevitable dehydration throws my own body temperature off.
But overall, I find CX cabins perfectly fine, as someone who prefers to sleep cold. I think there is just a storyline repeated on the internet that "Asian carriers keep their cabins warm" and hence CX gets lumped in, even though it's inaccurate.
