I apologise to everyone in this sub-forum that I clearly offended with my hyperbolic language about this airlines's fare for such a short route but in five years it is the most expensive route I've done in the region by some distance (including much longer flights to Manila, Tokyo, Maldives etc.) so I was really interested whether there are other monopoly routes that fleece their customers to quite the same extent. Shanghai-Taipei seems to be one.
I didn't ask about airline economics which - along with many people on this forum - I'm quite capable of grasping as I am monopoly economics. (Incidentally, I understand that the airlines's route from Samui to Singapore is even more highly priced but then Singaporeans tend to have more money than Malaysians).
Well, I'll slink back to the SPG forum where I usually lurk. At least for the next year while it lasts.
I've seen SIN-HKG one way for 10,000 THB on peak days.
And that's not even close to a monopoly route.
What's your issue? Flying one way on peak days with little advance purchase sucks. @:-)
