I'd wait. Even if the flight is a little late you shouldn't need to rush. If a misconnect is going to occur, I would expect it to affect you all, regardless of class of travel, and in any event BA have 3 flights a day to Athens, so in the worst case scenario you might need to go and drink champagne in the Concord Lounge, which would be terrible.
