I have two daughters who travelled back to their university in Vancouver from Geneva and were caught in the ice fog fiasco. I wonder if someone here can tell me if it is worth our pursuing BA for any compensation.

Their scheduled itinerary was:

Dec. 31
BA741 dep GVA 1435h arr LHR 1525h
BA85 dep LHR 1720h arr YVR 1900h

They departed GVA on BA741 at approximately 1645h, meaning they arrived into LHR about 25 minutes before their scheduled departure, which did appear to leave on time.

BA rebooked them on an Air Canada flight to Calgary the following day, followed by a connection with WestJet to Vancouver. They also provided a hotel and meal vouchers.

Aside from missing their New Years Eve party, they subsequently sat on the tarmac for over 1 hour in Calgary when their WestJet connection had technical problems. Overall, it was a very disappointing and long journey. Can anyone tell me if it is worth our putting in a claim with BA in relation to this? Happy to provide more information if it's needed.

Best wishes,

Dave M
