So after the Novotel Clarke Quay, now this property. I don't know if they share the same building owner or if it's just Mr Challenger (the GM) taking with him what was done at the Novotel (as he was the HM there). Anyway, it put me off booking the Mercure for CNY.

Well, I believe it could be Mr challenger then. The owners are definitely not the same as Novotel as Novotel is owned by CDL Hospitality while this is not. Well, one alternative is that you can sit outside at the terrace area if you are there for evening drinks with the family?? But that would be a hassle.
