Indeed. Given the historic... underinvestment... in preventative maintenance by United, I would expect exactly that.
DL has done a great job maintaining an older fleet - used, older, well maintained planes has been a winning strategy for them.
For me, I'm just anxious to get back to a unified fleet, where all of, say, the A320's are configured the same. The fleet planners are doing a good job getting there. Given the fleet they inherited from both sides of the aisle, where we are today is an order of magnitude improved from where we were at merger-time, at least as far as fleet standardization goes.
