BA website says only that you can select seats from booking on ba flights (as silver or gold). Main Iberia website slightly vaguer, refers to Iberia status and oneworld status but not explicity. I've similarly booked return flights to Spain, out with BA back with Iberia (not Iberia Express admittedly), as BA silver am unable to select seats for free on the Iberia flight.

Also had a devil of a job reserving BA seats on a previous flight booked through Iberia, seemed to lose the reservation every few days.
