and throughout the thread, you see that individuals' records (perhaps even including SSNs) are kept in a binder behind the counter. Of course you already knew that. Sure no one can access that, right?
Don't get me wrong though. I do enjoy a good pile of BS as much as the next guy, so keep it coming.

As for my DL being everywhere, try to find it.
You realize the dp you linked is several years old, dont you?
It depends on which WMT. The paper form you read about are long gone in many WMTs. They were there years back and some of the folks I knew did not mind to give such.
One of the "legend" poster no longer visited FT once showed me a picture with the receipt of buying the instrument, by the side of his car, just to show me how long it was... So yes, he filled out the paper form, had a discussion with the management of his stores which "promised" the form would be locked up in the office. I have not heard anything from him about any ID theft resulting from his SSN being left on WMT form. That has to be 4 or even 5 years ago when BofA still offered US Airway and Alaska Airlines debit cards. If you have so much time to dig up ancient DPs, you can google about these 2 miles earning debit cards as to WHEN they died. Think about this person earned hundreds of thousands miles thru these debit cards (maxed out the annual caps on multiple cards) and you can figure out the volumes that have gone thru. Nothing has ever happened, either to his ID or to the SARs. Granted, this guy kept meticulous records on everything. I believe 99.99% of people here would never come close to such extent when it comes to record-keeping jub done by this guy.
AFAIK, all WMTs here the paper form is long gone, Now the SSN is directly entered by the customer on the keypad - and it is not just pertained to buying MO above $3K but also needed for sending and receiving money. I dont know which types of the transactions required SSN but on many many many occasions I see the customer before me is told to enter his / her SSN using the keypad, and I am 100% sure they are not buying MOs!
